Yakushi hotspring is renowned for it's high quality water with health restorative properties. No drilling procedures were every required here as water flows freely to the surface without the assistance of pumps. This means there is a constant source of fresh spring water coming to the surface. Normally, when hot springs are drilled and water is then piped into the bathing area, maintenance, involving clearance of minerals from pumps and pipes, incurs significant costs annually. No such maintenance is required at Yakushi. Situated in a secluded forest area, with the exception of one isolated farmhouse about 500 meters away, there is nothing around the hot spring area. Abundant water from a mountain above the property flows into smaller streams which filter through the land forming idillic pools. The environment lends itself perfectly to a health and wellness /spa/ yoga/ aesthetics concept, something which Niseko doesn't yet have, but sorely needs. Or alternatively a luxury Ryokan would also prove popular. The owner is currently demolishing the existing building and clearing the site completely in order to hand over a pristine area of land to the next owner. Despite being secluded, Yakushi hot spring is only a 15 minute drive from the Annupuri and Moiwa ski lifts.
